I have toro sprinkler valves that have 4 screws on top of the cover. I had changed a sprinkler head and tried to test it by opening the bleed valve. When i closed the bleed valve it will not shut off unless I turn off the main water supply. when i turn on the water supply again the zone starts up again.

Also which direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) opens/unscrews the ports/valves?

I have to turn off the water under my kitchen sink, but the valves connecting to hot and cold are stuck. I can't get them to budge, and I don't own a wrench. (I am female, live alone (not that it should matter). Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated. I would like to try and fix this leaky faucet myself.:)
Thanks, H8, but the valves under the sink are the problem. They are stuck, and I can't get them to turn to get the water off.

I have two radiators and turned both of the valves clockwise to shut them off...it is so hot. I am wondering if the heat from the other apartments in my building are all piped together. I am in the 2nd floor of a three floor apartment. I don't want to cause damage to the other apartments. I don't want the water pressure to build up. Am I OK? Should I open the valve partially?
